Certified Professional In Instrumentation Measurement & Control (IMC)

Description

Instrumentation and control engineering (ICE) is a branch of engineering that studies the measurement and control of process variables, and the design and implementation of systems that incorporate them. Process variables include pressure, temperature, humidity, flow, pH, force and speed.

Process control engineers work on process variables and converting them to engineering units, like pressure or flow. They then use this information to create a system that controls the process variable at an optimal level desired by business leaders (e.g., maximizing production).

Process instrumentation specialists are responsible for designing measuring devices/transmitters so that they can measure these variables accurately in order for engineers to design systems around them properly.

If you want examples of specific applications of ICE techniques, check out industry-specific blogs such as Building Automation Systems Blog or Industry News Feeds from Emerson Network Power blog posts related to Instrument Engineers United States Industrial Control Manufacturers Association (IECMA) events.
